The Best Neutral Work Outfits For Fall

As you know, I love a good neutral outfit so I was inspired to share some of my favorites for work in the fall. Honestly the fall colors are really what got me, so these are a pleasant balance of fall and neutral colors. I’m REALLY looking forward to wearing these over the next few months! Keep on reading to see some of my fall outfit ideas for the office.

Outfit #1

I raved about these pants in my last post and guess what, they’re back. I’m head over heels for these pants, they are so dang cute. If you buy anything this fall, please buy these!! I paired them with a taupe sweater I got from Old Navy a few years ago and some nude heels and now we have my favorite ~lewk~ for fall.

Guess what! These are the same pants, but in orange because they are the best, linked here. If this is unclear, please see paragraph above. In the fall, orange is a neutral and I don’t care what you say. I paired these with this leopard print sweater (that is also a neutral, don’t @ me) and some white heels for a perfectly put together fall inspired look.

Outfit #3

I have a feeling, I’m going to be very into all black outfits this season, so here’s my fall inspiration for it. I love this outfit, because if you switch out the shoes for heels or mules or booties, it can easily go from day to night without being too scandalous for the office.

A sweater dress is a great way to stay cozy, but put together for fall. Plus these are SO easy to come back now a days. I remember a few years ago struggling to find them in stores! This one is from Target last year and I’ve gotten a ton of use out of it. Plus the gray color is super easy to style with any type of shoes or jacket.

For casual Friday, I went with a super casual look, jeans with a button down and sweater over. Groundbreaking. It’s such a simple outfit, but you either love it or you hate it. Personally, I like it but you can always remove one layer and get a totally different cute outfit out of this look. And both are work appropriate!

Spring Work Outfits

I wanted to share some spring work outfits for you guys because it’s been a while honestly! Now that I can wear jeans to work everyday, I’ve definitely had a smaller focus on work wear. But just because I don’t have to dress business casual, doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t either! So here are 5 spring work outfits for all your ladies that need to wear real clothes to work every day!

Outfit #1

I found these Something Navy Pants on Nordstrom recently and thought they were such a great piece to have in my closet. They can be dressed up for work or dressed down for a casual day out. I loved them so much I bough them in both colors! I paired it with an old sweater I got from Old Navy, but the color is so versatile that you can wear it with pretty much any neutral color! I paired it with white flats from Steve Madden to keep it really stylish and put together.

Outfit # 2

I found this dress at Zara in the fall and I think it’s a great piece to bring back for the spring! The colors and material are perfect for this time of year and the fringe is very on trend. Mine is sold out but I found this one at Zara with a similar silhouette. I paired it with these navy Steve Madden heels to bring out the navy in the dress.

Outfit # 3

I think this is my favorite outfit ever! I’ve told you time and time again how much I love pink right now and here’s the proof! Not only is this completely wearable for work, but it’s wearable outside of work also. I wore this one for Easter brunch actually! I found these pink pants at Topshop on sale (!!!) and this cardigan from Madewell! My pants are sold out but they come in a few other colors. If you still want pink, these are similar!

Outfit # 4

I’m not huge into skirts, but for the office they can be a great clothing choice. It’s a nice alternative to pants with a similar kind of freedom as a dress! I got this gray skirt at target a few years ago but here’s something similar from Zara. My sweater is Something Navy and super light weight which I love. It’s sold out now but here’s a similar option from Topshop.

Finally for casual Friday’s, let’s add in some jeans! These are my favorite jeans from American Eagle that I always wear. I’ve had them for about 5 years now! I paired them with this pretty floral button down from Something Navy. I love the pink and the purple on this, so I decided to pair them with my purple heels from Charles David. My shoes are sold out but here’s a similar pair!

OOTD: Cozy Sweater & Mom Jeans

Today I figured I’d do a little OOTD for you guys because I want to show you all some more of my daily looks instead of curated look books. I share my outfits on my Instagram story and in my highlights daily but I figured I should share them on my blog once in a while right!

Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Nordstrom / Belt: American Eagle

Today I went with a pretty basic outfit, but what’s important about this outfit is that it has been my uniform lately for work. Literally everyday. I don’t wear anything else. A cozy sweater (since it’s still very cold in New York) and a pair of jeans is all I wear all the time. Today, I decided to wear heels which is one of my favorite things in the whole world, especially these pretty pinky purple ones *heart eyes*. Realistically if I could justify wearing heels everyday I would. However, sometimes I switch things up and I wear boots or flats depending on how I’m feeling that morning.

Recently, I’m really lacking inspiration in my winter outfits because it’s not quite the end of winter but all the spring stuff is EVERYWHERE. I’m trying my best but frankly, I’m just ready for some warm weather. Lately my main style inspiration is Arielle Charnas (are you surprised????) because she ALWAYS wears heels and jeans and a sweater and it’s such an easy thing for me to incorporate into my life. However, I’ve been trying to add some brighter colors into my wardrobe as my way of forcing spring to come sooner. Everyone cross your fingers that spring comes sooner than later!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little OOTD and please comment if you’d like to see some more of these!

Business Casual OOTD

While it’s still not terribly cold, I wanted to share this business casual look! There’s something chic about a pair of jeans and button down. The jeans keeps it very casual and comfortable but the button down shows you mean business. I also added in a pair of nude heels to really amp up the business aspect of the outfit. It’s also a great look to transition into happy hour after work! If you throw on a long trench or fuzzy coat, this outfit can take you way into the fall and winter! A bold red or orange also adds a fun pop of color to this otherwise simple outfit.

Lately, I’m thinking a lot about my future and what I want it to look like. Where do I want to live? Do I want kids? How many? Should I get married? How am I going to make money? Will I get to travel? Will I be happy? There’s tons of questions floating around in my head and to be honest, it’s tough and frustrating to figure it all out. Somethings that have really helped me stay calm while trying to get my life on the right track has been reading lots and lots of books! Books that are uplifting and motivating and positive, but not necessarily self-help books. Just books that make me feel good and inspire me to look at things differently. There’s a world of endless possibilities out there for me. I’ve also found that a quick prayer every night to say thank you and ask for guidance helps too! It’s so easy to get caught up in where I’m not and what I’m not doing and what’s missing so taking the time to just say thank you for what I have reminds me just how good I have it.

Capsule Wardrobe: Work Edition

I’ve always been interested in the idea of a capsule/minimalistic wardrobe. I think it’s a great way to reduce clutter in your closet and overspending on things you don’t need. I personally don’t think I could ever actually reduce my wardrobe to only a few pieces to make it minimalistic (because I get bored and I like the variety), but I do think it’s a great idea.

Today, I wanted to share my first attempt at a capsule wardrobe. I decided to use the following items:

  1. Black Pants
  2. Medium Wash Jeans
  3. Gray Plaid Skirt
  4. White Button Down
  5. White Cami
  6. Black Cami
  7. Gray Cardigan
  8. Nude Blazer
  9. Green Dress
  10. Black Dress

I decided on 10 items that I thought would make up a good capsule wardrobe for work and then I styled them 10 ways. I also tried to keep it simple by only using 2 bags and 3 pairs of shoes. It was definitely not super easy to come up with these outfits, but I think overall I did okay! Again, I think in my own closet I like to have more variety, but for someone who loves to stick with neutrals and classic pieces this is a great way to go!

Here are all the looks I came up with!

Fall Work Outfits

Now that it’s September, I thought I’d start sharing some of my transitional outfits. The transition from summer to fall is always bittersweet, I think. I love being out in the sun, going to the beach and the carefree connotation that comes with summer. But, I do love the crispness of fall, the fresh earth colors and cozy sweaters. It’s a tough trade for me! However, fall is the best season for clothing and you are not allowed to argue with me!! So today I’m sharing some of my favorite summer to fall work outfits.

Monday

Now, you know I like dressing up nice for Mondays to get myself in the right mode for the week. But now that it’s almost fall, I need to account for the fact that they blast the AC way too high for the temperatures outside. So I went with this lightweight olive/earthy green from H&M and threw on a cozy sweater over. It’s a great way to keep warm and still look presentable.

Dress: H&M / Cardigan: Forever 21 / Shoes: Steve Madden / Bag: Kate Spade

Tuesday

This is one of my favorite looks I’ve ever out together! I love black and tan/khaki. But I especially love these slingback heels. They are super comfy, super flattering and very stylish.

Top: Urban Outfitters / Pants: Old Navy / Belt: Old Navy / Shoes: Chanel

Wednesday

Like I’ve said before, I like to get a little more casual on Wednesdays because you know, it’s Hump Day. We can wear jeans to the office, so that’s typically what I’ll opt for mid week. This lightweight button down is great for when it’s still fairly warm out, but the warm orange color screams fall.

Top: Target / Jeans: American Eagle / Belt: Old Navy / Shoes: Steve Madden

Thursday

By Thursday, I’m trying to find the motivation to make it to Friday, so I tried to brighten up my week with a yellow cardigan. It’s very fall, but the skirt reminds you that there’s still some remnants of summer hanging on! I paired them with some nude flats to keep myself comfy.

Top: Express / Cardigan: Target / Skirt: H&M / Shoes: Steve Madden

Friday

Fridays are usually very casual and comfortable, but I remembered that I had this skirt and really couldn’t pass up the chance to post it. I decided to pair it with a gray sweater, because a groutfit is the definition of casual. Like it’s in the dictionary. Probably.

Business Casual Work Outfits

Figuring out what is office appropriate and what isn’t has taken me some time to learn. In my first year of working in a corporate office, I’ve had my fair share of not-so-good office outfits and some that really hit it out of the park! It took me some time to figure out what my professional style was going to be and during that time I also realized that how I dress affects how well I perform in my job. I’m all about being comfortable, but I also like to look professional and put together. So, I put together some of my favorite summer work outfits to hopefully inspire you to be comfortable and professional!

Monday

Mondays are when I like to look the best in order to start my week off right. Right now for the summer, I love bright or patterned dresses on those rough Monday mornings to put me in a great mood!

Tuesday

Similar to Monday’s look, I try to keep my most professional looks for the beginning of the week because that’s always the busiest part of the week and I want to feel as productive as possible. Does anyone else feel like Tuesday is even worse than Monday?? I kept it comfortable with a bright red dress and some mules for this look!

Wednesday

Ahhh hump day! By this part of the week, I’m in full comfort mode and like to keep it really simple. A comfy pair of Pixie Pants from Old Navy and a button down is always a great office look. Plus these cute pink loafers add a fun pop of color without being too over the top!

Thursday

Thursday is always one of those days that can go either way. Either I’m in a great mood and want to dress up or I’m crazy stressed and just want to be comfortable, so this outfit is good for both! The simple pants and top keep me comfortable but the wedges help me look a little bit more put together.

Friday

Yay for casual Fridays! Even though I’m a firm believer in business casual for the office, I do love a good pair of jeans after a long week of meetings. For the summer I like to keep it simple with a soft button down and a pair of mom jeans with casual sandals.
