Weekend In My Life: My 25th Birthday

This past weekend was a little bit hectic but it was a ton of fun! I celebrated my 25th birthday (which is actually today, the 21st of January) on Saturday with some friends with some good food and drinks. I have been really looking forward to this weekend because I feel like I’ve been planning it for so long. It was exciting to see it all come together finally. I hope you enjoy reading about this weekend in my life!

So this weekend was a bit of whirlwind, but I think it turned out okay. I didn’t take many photos honestly because I was living in the moment but I made sure to get just one of my outfit at 12:00 am after getting my Shake Shack order. On Saturday night, I went out for my birthday with some family and friends. There was some snowy/wet weather which sort of put a damper on the evening because a few people couldn’t make it, but we still had fun!

For dinner, we went to Serafina in Meatpacking which is a nice Italian restaurant. They had a really wide variety of dishes on their menu and a pretty long drink list too which was exactly what I was hoping for. We got some calamari for an appetizer and I got eggplant parm for dinner. I also got my favorite wine, Josh Cabernet Sauvignon. It was the best dinner I could have asked for that night.

After that, we walked around the block over to Common Ground NYC which is a bar in the Meatpacking district also. It was about 7:30 pm when we got there but you would have thought it was 2:30 am based on how packed it was! It was nuts. But I was happy to be there and got to dance around, plus it thinned out a bit around 8:00 pm (probably because everyone realized they should go home after being there all day, but it was still too early to go out for the night). I drank my usual tequila sodas and had myself a good time dancing (mostly by myself).

After that, we decided to chill out and headed to the Biergarten at the Standard Hotel nearby. Here we got some authentic German beers and a giant pretzel which was a nice treat! Soon after this most of my friends headed home but Andrew and I stayed out and walked around a bit for some extra QT (quality time) together. We walked uptown and found Mexicue and decided to stop for some margaritas which were really yummy! After that we headed home to finally get some sleep after a long day, but stopped for Shake Shake of course (see photo below).

Overall, I had a good birthday and I’m happy I decided to go out instead of staying home because of the weather. It was a great way to start off my 25th year and I’m looking forward to see what else is in store for me!

Me after ordering Shake Shack at 12:00am: “Andrew, take a picture of my outfit!”

Casual Outfits For When You Don’t Know What To Wear

I am the kind of person who constantly has no idea what to wear. It’s not often that I feel really inspired by my closet and it can be really frustrating for me to try and figure out something to wear ahead of time. Usually if I’m lacking inspiration, I look to my saved photos from Instagram and try to curate an outfit based on the things I saved. The issue however, is that 90% of the time, I don’t have anything similar to what the pretty Influencers are wearing in their photos. So today I wanted to share some outfit inspiration using items that you probably have in your closet already, inspired by my saved Instagram photos. I hate feeling stressed about my outfits, so I’m hoping this will help any of you who are feeling the same way!

Outfit #1

I saw this photo on Instagram and thought it was such a cute outfit that would be easy to put together because at this point, I feel like most people own these pieces or they are available at just about every retailer. I got this beige turtleneck a few years ago and I don’t even wear it very often, but it’s the kind of piece that you should have around because you never know when you’ll want to wear it. I paired it with these black jeans that are old so also naturally worn in which I love and these cute tan boots. It’s neutral and simple which makes it a great outfit to wear when you can’t really figure out what to wear.

Coat: Something Navy (similar) / Sweater: H&M / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #2

I love this cream sweater and I wear the heck out of it. I got my inspiration from Danielle Bernstein on Instagram, because as I’ve mentioned a bunch of times, I love her style. She wore a cable knit sweater in her photo, which I think looks better because of the texture it adds, but I think any cream color sweater will be sufficient. I love pairing black with tan so I threw on the same black jeans from the previous outfit and my tan suede Jeffrey Campbell Cromwell boots. I’ve been really into these boots lately which is so strange because it took me two whole years to even start wearing them. She has on a really cool jacket in her photo that I do not have, but I think a teddy coat would look great too!

Sweater: Something Navy (similar) / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #3

I also have told you that I’m a huge fan of Arielle Charnas because she has classic style but she definitely loves to play with texture, color, and crazy details. I saw this outfit posted on Something Navy’s Instagram and knew it was such a good outfit for when you don’t know what to wear. Most people do have at least one cardigan in their closet and probably a long cardigan at that. The rest of the outfit is a simple pair of jeans and t-shirt or tank top. I personally did not have a pair of black leather knee high boots until I recently purchased a pair from Sam Edelman but I did have a slightly shorter pair that I think would look just as cute from Something Navy. These boots are so popular right now though, so they shouldn’t be too hard to find!

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters (similar) / Top: Old Navy / Jeans: Abercrombie (similar) / Shoes: Something Navy (similar)

Outfit #4

One of my favorite things to style recently have been sweatshirts! Either plain or graphic, it doesn’t matter. I think they are a great piece to make an outfit comfy and casual, even if you happen to be wearing heels. I got my inspiration from Ashley Brooke on Instagram, whose style I have been a fan of kind of on and off over the last few years. But I saw her style a plain black sweater/sweatshirt with some distressed, washed black jeans with brown boots and I thought it was so cute. An all black outfit is such an easy go-to look, so of course I had to include one!

Coat: Something Navy (similar) / Top: Zara (similar) / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit Of The Day: Styling Winter Whites

I’ve seen a ton of people styling winter whites recently, which I personally love, so I thought I would give it a try on my own. I think white is such a pretty color to wear in the winter, especially if you live or go somewhere nice and snowy. It hasn’t been snowy here where I live, but that doesn’t mean I can’t show off my winter whites outfit. Keep on reading to see what I put together!

A few weeks ago I saw someone wearing a really cute half zip sweater on Instagram and I thought, “That’s such a cool sweater!” So I recently decided to go hunting for one and couldn’t really find ones I liked or they were all sold out until I took a peek at Abercrombie and found exactly what I was looking for! It was a new arrival too so there was plenty in stock and it came in a few different colors. I got the cream color, but there’s also a taupey pink and one with a chevron pattern which is pretty. My sweater is linked here!

I also saw the jeans that they styled the sweater with on the model and really liked them so I went searching for those as well. They were on sale and I have been looking for some new white jeans. I was considering a $200 pair from Re/Done so thank goodness I found these for $44! All my old ones don’t fit very well or they have rips in the knee so I can’t really wear them right now in the winter. I also wanted a pair that was more of a straight leg fit. I like these because they have the straight leg but the hem is also cuffed up really long which is kind of a cool detail to add! The jeans are linked here!

Lastly, I was working on another blog post and had to link my Jeffrey Campbell Cromwell booties and I saw that they had them in a pretty white leather snakeprint. I have had buying white ankle boots on my mind for a while, but it wasn’t a priority so I had kind of put it off. Once I saw these, it was like a light switch went off and I knew these were the boots I was looking for! I recently decided that I really like these Jeffrey Campbell boots so they were really the perfect choice to go with this outfit. My boots are linked here and here’s a link to a similar coat on sale for less than $80.

In closing, the look is super casual. Great to go out for coffee or run errands if you want to look a little bit nicer or even a lunch date with your friends or partner! I don’t think anyone even follows the no white after Labor Day rule anymore anyway, but I’m here to tell you, that you shouldn’t! White is definitely one of the best colors to wear in the winter so just go for it!

Four Cute and Casual Winter Outfit Ideas

I wanted to share a few really casual outfits on here because usually, well, I don’t. I tend to share more dressed up looks or looks for special occasions or something along those lines and frankly, no one really looks like that day to day. So, I figured I’d do a post of some casual-but-still-put-together outfits. I definitely want to make more of an effort to share outfits that can be worn day to day because it’s just the most realistic. I hope you enjoy these! I’ll link as many items or similar items as I can!

Outfit #1

This first look is the most casual of all the looks and something I would probably wear out to run errands (if I didn’t want to wear sweatpants which is almost never). Instead of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, I opted for a sweatshirt and JEANS instead! I got this cozy sweatshirt while hanging around in Montauk over the summer and it’s a staple for me when I want to be comfy. To look more put together, I figured light wash jeans (similar) and a pair of chunky sneakers was the best option. As always, gold hoops are there to help dress things up too!

Sweater: Montauk town store / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Fila / Coat: Something Navy

Outfit #2

There’s nothing quite like an all black outfit. I’m partial to a washed black when it comes to my denim because if it’s too black, I feel like my top has to match exactly otherwise my outfit looks strange. I wear these Abercrombie jeans all the time and just put on a plain black sweater from Urban Outfitters (similar). My Jeffrey Campbell boots are ones I have a love-hate relationship with. I want to get rid of them every year, but I never do because I ALWAYS end up wanting to wear them at one point and it just resets the cycle for me. But they are such a chic western style piece so they’ll be in style for quite a while.

Jacket: Forever 21 / Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #3

Another favorite look of mine is wearing cardigans as tops, which is super in style these days anyway. Paired with any pair of jeans and it’s a super easy, casual look but you still look like you intended to get dressed that morning. I love this little cardigan from American Eagle (similar), and got it in both colors because it’s the perfect length and the V-neck is not too deep. These are some of my favorite Jamie Jeans from Topshop, again in a washed black/gray color because it goes so well with just about everything! This one is the most dressy because it technically has a heel, but they are boots and a comfortable height so they are not NOT casual. These are similar boots from Steve Madden.

Coat & Shoes: Something Navy / Sweater: American Eagle / Jeans: Topshop

Outfit #4

This is another favorite of mine because you know I love to wear a bright pink. Instead of wearing this cardigan as a top, I wore it as a regular cardigan to add dimension to my outfit by layering it with a lace trim cami. Paired with some medium wash mom jeans, it’s a perfect casual outfit! I dressed it up a little bit more with these funky mules, but you can wear little booties or flats with this too and it will get you an even more casual look.

Cardigan: Something Navy / Top & Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Sam Edelman

How To Style One Skirt, Four Ways

I shared this pretty pleated white skirt from Target with you all a few weeks ago when I shared my Holiday Outfit Ideas. Basically, I loved it so much that I figured I’d use this skirt to do another session of styling one item four different ways. You guys LOVED when I styled one of my favorite sweaters four way a few months ago, linked here, so I decided to do it again! I think this skirt is such a good staple piece and it can be worn in so many different ways in all different seasons. The cherry on top of that is it’s super affordable price tag! It’s about $30 and I have to say it’s some of the best money I ever spent.

Outfit 1:

This is similar to the outfit I wore for Thanksgiving dinner a few weeks ago and I loved it. I wore this super cozy, oversize pink sweater and tucked it into my skirt. The skirt has an elastic waist which made it really easy to tuck things in without it looking lumpy! I decided to make it really fun and girly by wearing my favorite leopard loafers and adding some pearl details with earrings and a headband. This is definitely the most feminine way to style this skirt if you ask me!

Sweater & Shoes: Something Navy / Skirt: Target / Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Francesca’s

Outfit 2:

This time around, I kept things a little more neutral and similar to what I wore for my Holiday outfits but with a thinner top. I love how sleek the turtleneck makes this outfit look. I have to say I just love pairing tall boots with a long hemline like this. It’s a really old school way to wear it, but I love that it adds 1) warmth and 2) and another feminine touch. I thought a red headband and some small gold hoops would be a good way to tie the whole look together.

Top & Skirt: Target / Boots: Zara / Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Baublebar

Outfit 3:

One of my favorite colors, as you all know VERY well by now, to style is brown so I thought I should feature some in this post also. A pretty chocolate genache color brown with such a crispy white color is such a pretty look. I also have these beautiful brown suede heels that I never really get to wear and thought they would be such a cute finisher for this look. Of course, can’t forget the cutest little heart shaped earrings either! Maybe this is one is just as feminine as the first outfit, but in a slightly different way!

Sweater: Something Navy / Skirt: Target / Shoes: Steve Madden / Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Baublebar

Outfit 4:

You have noticed that I love to match my top to my shoes a lot, so I’m doing it again here. I love a good matchy-matchy outfit! I’ve had this pretty green sweater for over a year, and just recently got these green heels and plaid coat to match. The pop of white really adds such a nice contrast to how dark the greens are! Honestly, this might be my favorite outfit of all of them!

Sweater: Mango / Skirt: Target / Shoes: Naturalizer / Earrings: Baublebar

How I Style My Winter Coats

Now that we are really getting into the swing of things for winter, I decided I’ll do a post on styling winter coats. Winter coats are not always necessarily the giant puffer coats you know and love/hate. They can be nice and not too bulky if you style them correctly to stay warm. Now mind you, I live in the lower part of New York, so we don’t usually get freezing cold temps or a ton of snow. So far this year, it’s been fairly mild if I’m being honest. So if you live in a freezing cold climate, be sure to adjust these for what makes sense for you. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for you freezing in 5 feet of snow! Please bear in mind that is was actually raining when I took these photos, so don’t mind the visible rain! How crazy is the iPhone camera quality, honestly!

Outfit 1:

I found this green plaid coat at Mango after searching for one for about a year now, linked here. It’s not super heavy so it’s best for days that are not too cold, but it’s roomy enough that you can layer underneath if you need. I think a statement coat is one of the best ways to make a simple outfit more interesting and that was partially why I was so excited to finally get this coat! I paired it with just a plain white sweater and jeans and matching green shoes to complete the look.

Coat: Mango / Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Naturalizer / Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Baublebar

Outfit 2:

Another coat I had been looking for for about a year is a navy wool coat. I found this one at Mango and am very pleased with it, linked here! It’s super warm, the wool is really heavy and it’s roomy enough for layering. As an alternative to a basic black coat, I think navy is a good one to have also. I decided to pair it with a plain beige turtleneck sweater, some tan mom jeans and leopard boots. I love pairing a really neutral outfit to make the navy stand out more.

Coat: Mango / Sweater: H&M / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Steve Madden/ Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Baublebar

Outfit 3:

This white faux shearling coat is old from Something Navy, but I found a really similar one this year at Mango, linked here! It’s not quite as long, but the material is the same. This is one of my favorite coats because of the sheer size of it. It’s absolutely massive and I love that. I’ve told you before that I love pairing black and brown together, so underneath my giant coat, that’s what I did! I think adding the white coat on top makes the dark tones of the sweater and jeans come more full circle. It gives you a light, medium and dark element in the whole look which keeps it really interesting.

Coat& Sweater: Something Navy / Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Target / Headband & Earrings: Baublebar

Outfit 4:

Finally, the ever popular teddy coat. I’ve had this baby since last year from Something Navy and I wear it religiously for much longer than the weather permits if we’re honest. It’s so cozy and truly my favorite coat that I own. Mine is sold out, but I found a similar one from Mango and linked it here! I wanted to keep it really simple and do an all black outfit underneath to let the texture and color of the teddy coat really stand out. This is definitely a go to outfit for me throughout the fall and winter!

Coat: Something Navy / Sweater: American Eagle / Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Urban Outfitters / Headband: Amazon / Earrings: Baublebar
