How to Wear Any Color This Spring!

How to Wear Any Color This Spring!

There’s a cute song on Tik Tok that starts off saying, “I could be red or I could be yellow…” and you go through and style each color based on the song. Well, I recently decided to take on this challenge and style each color of this song for this blog post. I’ve written tons of blogs about wearing color for spring and how to style outfits using all kinds of colors. It’s one of my favorite ways to dress, so this challenge was honestly right up my alley. Keep on reading to see what I came up with for this challenge! You can also follow me on Tik Tok to see the cute video I made to go with it by searching for Karen Mauritzen in the app! I will also link as many of these items as possible!

I could be red…

There is something so easy about wearing a red sweater with blue jeans. I’m not sure why but it always reminds me of being a child, because I feel like my mom always dressed me like this as a kid. That’s probably just a personal issue. Anyway, I love cardigans as tops, so I wore this old red cardigan from Target with my tried and true mid blue wash mom jeans from Topshop. I paired these tan woven mules from Target and there you have it!

Or I could be yellow…

This one reminds me of the show Arthur because he always wore a yellow sweater and blue jeans, but again that’s another personal problem. This yellow cardigan is from Abercrombie and one of my favorites this season! I paired it with the same mom jeans and my new pair of all white Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

I could be blue…

Blue has definitely become my favorite color to style this season and I am showing no signs of slowing down. I paired this medium blue lace cami bodysuit with the same pair of mom jeans and this pair of white croc print Steve Madden sandals. I got these sandals a few weeks ago and they have already become a staple in my wardrobe (even though I haven’t left my house in 6+ weeks).

Or I could be purple…

This one was the hardest for me to style because although I love purple, I just don’t own a lot of it. Luckily, my interest in the color lilac started in the spring of 2019 when I got this pretty lilac cardigan from Target! This year I followed up and got this pretty lacey bodysuit from Abercrombie. I paired this look with some light wash mom jeans from Abercrombie (similar) and the same tan woven mules from Target.

I could be green…

Green is another color that I love but just don’t have a lot of. However, a few months ago, I did find this super cute puff sleeve top from Abercrombie and immediately knew it was perfect for me. The fit is so flattering, so it’s one of my best purchases this year without a doubt! I paired it with these really thick black straight leg jeans from Topshop and the same Steve Madden Issy sandals, but in black!

Or pink…

As much as I love pink, I actually don’t have very many pink tops. I got this one from Something Navy x Nordstrom in the spring of 2019 also because I loved the big buttons and was trying improve my work wardrobe a bit. I paired this one with the same Abercrombie mom jeans (similar) and some velvet pink Gucci mules I got in 2019 also.

Or black…

The black outfit was hard because I have SO many black pieces! I couldn’t decide what to choose! Ultimately, I went with a dress for my last two outfits since I hadn’t featured any yet. This black cami dress is from Abercrombie and a wardrobe staple in my opinion because it’s so versatile. This black denim jacket is old from Forever 21, but here’s a similar one from Target. For my shoes, it’s the same black Steve Madden sandals!

Or white! I could be any color you like!

For my last look, I went with this super feminine white ruched top dress from Abercrombie. I paired a white cardigan from Abercrombie over the top for an extra layer and the same white croc sandals from Steve Madden. This one is definitely my favorite!

Five Easy Ways To Style Denim Shorts This Spring

Five Easy Ways To Style Denim Shorts This Spring

It’s only April, but I’m already planning some new ways to style my denim shorts. I’ve always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and that almost always carries over into the spring and summer. I’ve mentioned before how much trouble I’ve had in the past with planning my spring wardrobe and I always default to jeans and a t-shirt. This year, I wanted to try out some more interesting outfits by layering pieces and wearing different shoes to make my denim shorts look less basic. Keep on reading to see how I decided to style my denim shorts for this spring!

Outfit #1

I think I have finally found the perfect pair of mom shorts! I’ve heard a ton about the denim from Zara but never gave it a try until this year. I got these black mom shorts at Zara for only $35! I paired them with my Budweiser graphic tee, threw a medium wash denim jacket over and paired these casual flat white sneakers. I love this look because it’s casual, but looks more put together than just wearing the t-shirt and flip flops like I normally would have.

Outfit #2

I got the same mom shorts from Zara in a medium blue wash, and these are probably my favorite out of the 2 pairs. I wanted to dress this pair up a little bit more, so I took this cowlneck bodysuit from Abercrombie and put this muted navy cardigan from Abercrombie on top. For shoes, I found these gorgeous blue strappy sandals from Marc Fisher and fell in love! I love styling blue together and I’m so happy with how this look turned out.

Outfit #3

I took the same black mom shorts from Outfit #1 and paired this plain high neck white tank from Target. These are my favorite tanks right now and I got them in a ton of colors! I decided to put my washed black denim jacket (similar) over as my third layer and on my feet, I wore my favorite white strappy sandals from Steve Madden. These are probably my best purchases this season for sure and cannot wait to wear them out!

Outfit #4

For this outfit, I took the same high neck tank from the previous outfit but wore the yellow color. I paired it with this pale yellow cardigan from Abercrombie and some black mom shorts from Abercrombie. These are also great shorts because they are not too short! My biggest issue with shorts is always that they are too short in the back, so I’m happy that I found these. I wore the same white flat sneakers again from the first outfit to finish off my look.

Outfit #5

For this last outfit, I had to include at least one plain white t-shirt. This one is from Target and it’s such a classic for only a few bucks. I wore these darker wash mom shorts from Abercrombie and paired my favorite tan cardigan from Target (similar) as my third layer. For my shoes, I decided to do my new favorite tan leather sandals from Steve Madden for a super cute and casual look.
