OOTD: Spring Outfit

I just thought I’d share one of my favorite spring outfits that I’ve worn recently. I really love to show you some OOTDs that don’t need much context or styling. This is going to be one of those!

This satin/silky trench is one o my favorite pieces for the spring. It’s the perfect lightweight jacket when it’s pretty warm but you still need some layers. It’s super easy to style with jeans and a t-shirt but would also look so pretty over a dress and belted. I also thought a bright orange lip was such a fun spring look so I decided to add it on with this look!

How to Style: Early Spring Outfits

Now that it’s officially spring, I’m working on showing you some more colorful spring content. I have been dreaming about some warm sunny weather since literally December so this new season is a dream come true. This spring, for me at least, is all about color. All the colors and light neutrals. I wanted to start off by showing you all how I like to style my outfits for early spring when it’s still a little chilly out but the sun is still shining!

Outfit #1:

To start things off, I’m sharing this cute and feminine pink outfit. I love this pink sweater because it’s light weight and I love the color! It’s such a pretty salmon pink. I kept it very simple with a pair of jeans and this pretty trench that you all know I’m obsessed with. This embellished mules added a little more spring flare!

Outfit # 2:

Sticking with my bright color theme for the spring, I also am really into colorblocking so I wanted to pair this gorgeous royal purple sweater with my favorite pink trench. Pink and purple is one of my favorite color combinations for the spring. Paired with white jeans, it’s a prefect transitional outfit for days when it’s bright and sunny but you still need some layers for warmth.

Outfit # 3:

Another combination I love for colorblocking is purple and green! It’s so pretty and if you do it right, you won’t even look like the hulk! With such bright colors like this, I think keeping them separate really helps so I wore the same purple sweater but paired it with green heels instead. With pastels, these colors are really pretty layered as a top and coat or with wide leg trousers.

Outfit #4:

Finally, I can’t tell you enough how much I love this bright green! It’s such a fun color for the spring because it basically matches the grass and I love that. It also pairs well with lots of other colors, but is also a great piece to wear on it’s own. This is another favorite of mine that I am going to wear for as long as possible.

OOTD: Cozy Sweater & Mom Jeans

Today I figured I’d do a little OOTD for you guys because I want to show you all some more of my daily looks instead of curated look books. I share my outfits on my Instagram story and in my highlights daily but I figured I should share them on my blog once in a while right!

Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Nordstrom / Belt: American Eagle

Today I went with a pretty basic outfit, but what’s important about this outfit is that it has been my uniform lately for work. Literally everyday. I don’t wear anything else. A cozy sweater (since it’s still very cold in New York) and a pair of jeans is all I wear all the time. Today, I decided to wear heels which is one of my favorite things in the whole world, especially these pretty pinky purple ones *heart eyes*. Realistically if I could justify wearing heels everyday I would. However, sometimes I switch things up and I wear boots or flats depending on how I’m feeling that morning.

Recently, I’m really lacking inspiration in my winter outfits because it’s not quite the end of winter but all the spring stuff is EVERYWHERE. I’m trying my best but frankly, I’m just ready for some warm weather. Lately my main style inspiration is Arielle Charnas (are you surprised????) because she ALWAYS wears heels and jeans and a sweater and it’s such an easy thing for me to incorporate into my life. However, I’ve been trying to add some brighter colors into my wardrobe as my way of forcing spring to come sooner. Everyone cross your fingers that spring comes sooner than later!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little OOTD and please comment if you’d like to see some more of these!

OOTD: Eastern Long Island

As an extension of our Valentine’s Day plans, my very wonderful boyfriend, Andrew took me out to eastern Long Island for a fun day of drinks, dinner and enjoying each other’s company. Luckily, it was beautiful weather for February and it really helped to make for a great day! I wanted to share our experience and also what I wore because this is a fashion blog you know. So, here we go!

We started our day at the Riverhead Ciderhouse. It’s exactly what it sounds like it is, a cider house or like a brewery for alcoholic cider. The building on it’s own is very cool and cozy. There’s lots of couches and first come first serve table seating to relax at and enjoy all kinds of cider, beer, wine and snacks. It was super crowded when we got there around 2 in the afternoon, so I would definitely recommend going early! We got 2 glasses of cider to start; I had the Strawberry Patch cider and my boyfriend got the Honey Crisp Bolt Apple Cider and we also shared a flight so we could try a few different flavors! My favorite ended up being a Blackberry Habanero cider. It was delicious! Of course, if we’re spending all day drinking, we need to refuel with some snacks so we also grabbed a giant pretzel and some chips and guacamole. I loved this place, it had such a good atmosphere and it’s probably really fun in the summer. I’m definitely looking forward to going back!

For dinner, we went to a waterfront restaurant called Cowfish in the Hampton Bays. It’s an American surf and turf restaurant with a great drink selection as well as amazing food! We had a reservation right at sunset and it was absolutely stunning. The sky was cotton candy colored and in combination with the drinks and food it was a great experience. I had the seared Ahi Tuna and Andrew had the Mahi which had Cajun seasoning. Both were delicious and we shared an appetizer of buffalo shrimp which was surprisingly good! The service was also good, our server was knowledgeable and friendly which is all you can really ask for, right! Me being the really good blogger than I am, did not snap any pics of the food there or the sunset but don’t you worry cause I got my outfit.

After dinner, we headed home to finish watching the show Lovesick on Netflix. We’re really into it right now but looking for a new show since we’re almost done with it! (Please send new Netflix suggestions, thanks.) It was such a great day and I would highly recommend both places if you’re ever looking to head out to the east end of Long Island!

OOTD: Straight Leg Jeans

Hi Friends! I found a new style of jeans that I’m really into and I decided to style them and write a post about how much I love them πŸ™‚

Sweater: Something Navy / Jeans: Topshop / Boots: Urban Outfitters / Scarf: Zara / Headband: Something Navy / Belt: Urban Outfitters

So, I’m really late to this trend because I usually hate trendy things, which you all know already. But I also get nervous about trying new styles of jeans because some are just not flattering when you have a smaller waist and bigger hips/thighs. Straight leg jeans have been really popular over the last few years but have especially been popular in 2018. Especially the ones with the distressing all over the legs and basically completely cut out thigh area or the cut off raw hem. I saw Ruby Holly on Instagram style a pair of straight leg jeans from Topshop and me, being easily influenced and obsessed with Topshop’s jeans, figured I should order a pair to try out. I am not exaggerating when I tell you, I was HOOKED. These jeans are the most flattering jeans I’ve ever owned. Seriously.

With that being said, I may have gone overboard and bought like 8 pairs but it’s okay because I wear jeans literally everyday of my life. And they look so good on me and I’m also extremely modest. Straight leg is a style that is really versatile and easy to style because 1. they’re still just jeans and 2. the cut is flattering on a lot of people. Sometimes people get freaked out when they wear anything other than skinny jeans but there’s a whole world of denim styles out there to explore.

Trying to keep things casual, I decided to style them with a navy blue sweater that is super cozy and comfy from Nordstrom. It’s one of my favorites from Arielle Charnas’ clothing line, actually. I’m also really into wearing these brown boots lately which is funny because I’ve had them for so long and literally never wore the until now. I’ve worn them like 5 times in the last week! The scarf was just to tie in some color from my red headband and for coziness of course. I would have put a coat on, but frankly didn’t feel like it. A pretty red or a camel coat would have been so cute!

I hope you liked this one!

What I Wore: My 24th Birthday

So, I turned 24 yesterday. It’s pretty nerve wrecking to be honest. First, I’ll share what I wore though because that’s what you’re here for and then I’ll share my thoughts on my 24th year.

I decided to go out to the city and have some dinner and drinks. We went to Refinery Rooftop and had the best food I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the lamb sliders, the Butcher’s meatballs, and then a margherita flatbread. They were absolutely delicious and I would recommend then 10 times over. The signature cocktails were okay, not my favorite. I tried the Yuzu Margarita which I thought was much too strong and then I tried the Perfect Pear which was pretty good. I also loved the atmosphere and the decor. It was really relaxed, there was great music and a really great crowd. I loved this place and I want to go back soon!

Bodysuit: Forever 21 / Jeans: Topshop / Jacket: Nasty Gal / Coat: Something Navy / Shoes: Steve Madden

For my outfit, I wanted to keep things simple and a little bit sexy so I scoured the earth to find a lace bodysuit. I also wore these very cool color block straight leg jeans with gold crocodile print heels. The heels were my absolute favorite part!

So now for my thoughts on this new year of my life. It’s definitely scary and anxiety inducing to think about turning 24. There’s a lot that I think I should be doing and things I’m not satisfied with in my life. It’s also probably just a symptom of being a millenial and in my early 20’s but it’s a rough spot to be in when you’re in the thick of it. I know that it’s an opportunity for growth though but I also think it’s a good time to reevaluate what I want and what I expect out of myself. I have high standards for myself and my life and not reaching those standards gets frustrating but it’s not the end of the world. I have the rest of my life to get things together (but in a timely manner for my sanity, of course). It’s okay for me to take a step back and relax and it’s okay to be open and honest with myself. This is a special time in my life and I want to get the most out of this year. I’m trying to look forward to 24, no matter how scary the thought of it is.

OOTD + Life Update Chit Chat

So I wanted to share a little life update because right now I’m trying to make new and positive strides in my life. I also wanted to share my cute outfit while I gave you the update because… this is a fashion blog, people.

Sweatshirt: Zara /Β  Tank: Old Navy / Leggings: Topshop / Boots: SomethingNavy (Nordstrom)

So like I mentioned in a previous post, the start of October was not easy on me. I really was going through an emotional rollercoaster. But I made the decision to do things that are good for me and make me happy and help me develop into a better, stronger, smarter, more resilient person.Β  Aside from going to the gym consistently, I made a point to listen to a new chapter of the Bible every morning as soon as I wake up. I also committed to reading one book per month so that eventually I can push myself to read a new book every 2 weeks and then every week. I love reading so I really want to be able to get more reading in to my ~very~ busy schedule. I also started looking into different networking events and events where I can meet people that have a similar mindset as me. And so far, I’ve enjoyed myself and I feel a lot better but I still have rough days. I feel like I can do more to help myself be happy by myself. So I thought I would try some new things in my routine and here I’m telling you what I’m trying out.

The first thing I started doing was taking better control of my finances. I’m trying to reduce how much I use my credit card and get back into the habit of using my debit card or cash. So I decided to give myself a set amount for the two weeks in between paychecks that I can spend. I’m 23 years old and I live with my mom, so I don’t have expenses other than my phone bill, my student loans, and my credit card bill. Therefore, I don’t need a lot of money to live. I allotted a certain amount to keep in my checking account to use for food, gas and fun after I take care of my expenses. So far, I think it’s helping a lot but I get those cravings for treating myself to something fun which by the end of 2 weeks, there’s not always enough leftover. So I started deciding at the beginning of each week what I’m going to treat myself to and making sure I’m setting aside what I need for that. It’s helped a little bit to get rid of that craving feeling for spending, which is great but it’s definitely a lifestyle adjustment that I’m still getting used to.

Another thing I started doing was listening to podcasts. It’s a lot of fun and I find them super interesting. I’m still exploring them and figuring out what I like and what I want out of them but I do like them. It’s like getting to sit in on a little panel talk without actually going to one. However, I find that I can’t multitask. I guess because I really want to hear and understand the content of them, so I can’t put them on and then try and do something else. I actually tried to write this blog post while listening to one and had to wait the hour and a half until it was over to write a single word. But for driving in the car or commuting on the train, I think they are perfect for that because you can listen without distraction.

One other thing I decided to try is meditation using the very popular apps that are around these days. It was recommended to me by a very good friend of mine after I told her about a tough situation I was dealing with. She mentioned that it helped her a lot when dealing with stress and anxiety, even if it was only for 5 minutes. At first, I thought it was going to be just another thing to add on to my routine but after thinking about it, I thought it could be something to really look into. So I downloaded a bunch of apps like Calm, Insight Timer, and Simple Habit and tried to start meditating. I started one night after having a bad day, and did one that was for a good night’s sleep. It was definitely not easy to get into a full meditation at all let alone within 5 minutes but I think the calmness and quiet time was helpful before bed. I slept very well that night. I also tried it again in the morning to start my day off right and even though I was sleepy still, I felt like I was starting my day on a positive note. Meditation is HARD but I think just laying down, releasing all my thoughts and relaxing and breathing has helped me feel better every day. I try to do it at least once a day and it’s a major part of my routine now and I’m looking forward to really exploring this side of myself.

The final thing I decided to do was take my blog seriously. I started this just as a creative outlet and a way to get my ideas out into the world and share my thoughts and feelings. After a few months of writing and taking photos and posting, I realized that this is a heck of a lot of work but I really enjoy it. It’s satisfying to know that people like what I have to say. Fashion is something I’ve always been interested in but writing this blog has showed me it’s something I’m really passionate about in combination with sharing my thoughts. It’s also a great way for my to have a record of where my life was at certain points, which is just convenient and interesting to look back on. So I decided that because I love doing this, I want to post things that are more meaningful like this little life update. Fashion of course is my main priority, but I want to show you what’s going on behind the scenes too.

I hope you enjoyed this update and I’m looking forward to my next update! Hopefully some of these things I talked about actually help and I’ll have some good feedback for you!
