How to Style: Leather Shorts

After a short hiatus over the last week and a half, I’m back with a little mini “How to Style” blog post. It’s mini because there’s only 3 outfits instead of 5, because I only have 3 pairs of leather shorts. Anyway, I have been really into leather shorts now that it’s getting warmer and even with some chillier spring weather, I think they are a fun piece to style for a casual weekend look or a date night or a fun girls night out! Keep reading to see how I like to style my leather shorts.

Outfit #1

This first outfit was inspired by monochromatic looks everywhere. I went with all white/cream because it’s such a chic look for the spring. The shorts are heavy but not stiff which makes them fairly comfortable. The sweater is good for when it’s still in the mid 50s and 60s and not quite full summer weather yet!

Outfit #2

This next outfit is the most casual but it’s very similar to the first. I switched things up by adding this striped button down. It’s SO soft and a little bit heavier than a regular cotton button down. The shorts are such a pretty orange color and I thought they were so fun to style with the blue stripes.

Outfit #3

This one is much more formal than the others and very cute for a date night or girls night! The shorts help make it a little bit sexy and so does the deep v neckline of the blouse, but the long sleeves keep the look a little bit more conservative. This one is definitely my favorite look of all of them!

Spring Work Outfits

I wanted to share some spring work outfits for you guys because it’s been a while honestly! Now that I can wear jeans to work everyday, I’ve definitely had a smaller focus on work wear. But just because I don’t have to dress business casual, doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t either! So here are 5 spring work outfits for all your ladies that need to wear real clothes to work every day!

Outfit #1

I found these Something Navy Pants on Nordstrom recently and thought they were such a great piece to have in my closet. They can be dressed up for work or dressed down for a casual day out. I loved them so much I bough them in both colors! I paired it with an old sweater I got from Old Navy, but the color is so versatile that you can wear it with pretty much any neutral color! I paired it with white flats from Steve Madden to keep it really stylish and put together.

Outfit # 2

I found this dress at Zara in the fall and I think it’s a great piece to bring back for the spring! The colors and material are perfect for this time of year and the fringe is very on trend. Mine is sold out but I found this one at Zara with a similar silhouette. I paired it with these navy Steve Madden heels to bring out the navy in the dress.

Outfit # 3

I think this is my favorite outfit ever! I’ve told you time and time again how much I love pink right now and here’s the proof! Not only is this completely wearable for work, but it’s wearable outside of work also. I wore this one for Easter brunch actually! I found these pink pants at Topshop on sale (!!!) and this cardigan from Madewell! My pants are sold out but they come in a few other colors. If you still want pink, these are similar!

Outfit # 4

I’m not huge into skirts, but for the office they can be a great clothing choice. It’s a nice alternative to pants with a similar kind of freedom as a dress! I got this gray skirt at target a few years ago but here’s something similar from Zara. My sweater is Something Navy and super light weight which I love. It’s sold out now but here’s a similar option from Topshop.

Outfit # 5

Finally for casual Friday’s, let’s add in some jeans! These are my favorite jeans from American Eagle that I always wear. I’ve had them for about 5 years now! I paired them with this pretty floral button down from Something Navy. I love the pink and the purple on this, so I decided to pair them with my purple heels from Charles David. My shoes are sold out but here’s a similar pair!

Weekend Getaway: Wine Touring

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I took a little staycation out east to Riverhead, NY on Long Island. We visited a really great vineyard and brewery, ate some pretty delicious food and had a really wonderful weekend!

First things first, we stayed at the Hotel Indigo East End which was a nice hotel! The public space (lobby, restaurant, etc.) were so nice and looked like they had recently been renovated. Being that I work with hotels literally everyday at my job and travel often for pleasure, I have very high standards for my hotels. I will say I wasn’t thrilled with the hotel room, but it served its purpose. I also wasn’t thrilled with the service, but we didn’t spend much time there anyway so it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. One thing that I did like was that they offered a complimentary shuttle to and from the vineyards and breweries nearby!

Our first stop was the Baiting Hollow Farm and Vineyard which I mentioned in my previous post (March 2019 Favorites). I loved the atmosphere here and I think it was just a perfect day to sit outside, drinking wine with my wonderful boyfriend and people/dog watching. I also really loved the Pink Satin Rose! I would have liked to buy a bottle of it, and I honestly don’t know why I didn’t!

After that, we headed over to the Moustache Brewing Company which we picked mainly for the name. However, we were also pleasantly surprised by the beers they had and the great atmosphere! Luckily, we were able to try all 8 of their beers because there were 2 of us and we each got a flight of 4 beers (2 x 4 = 8 in case you missed that math). Some of our favorites included a blueberry and ginger beer (that had 10% alcohol content), as well as both of their ciders!

After that, we went back to the hotel and headed over to Bistro 72 for dinner. The restaurant was CROWDED so it was definitely our mistake for not making a reservation! Again, because it was crowded, the service was not the best but I have ultra high standards. However, the food was absolutely delicious and definitely worth the wait! I got the Maple Bourbon Salmon which was so yummy, I highly recommend. Andrew got a burger that was cooked perfectly and the fries were nice and crispy! We also got bourbon wings which were very flavorful.

Overall, I would say it was such a great experience! We had such a wonderful weekend exploring another part of Long Island that we don’t get to go to very often. Staycations have been such a nice way for us to spend some extra time together without going too far or spending too much money!

OOTD: Spring Outfit

I just thought I’d share one of my favorite spring outfits that I’ve worn recently. I really love to show you some OOTDs that don’t need much context or styling. This is going to be one of those!

This satin/silky trench is one o my favorite pieces for the spring. It’s the perfect lightweight jacket when it’s pretty warm but you still need some layers. It’s super easy to style with jeans and a t-shirt but would also look so pretty over a dress and belted. I also thought a bright orange lip was such a fun spring look so I decided to add it on with this look!

How to Style: Early Spring Outfits

Now that it’s officially spring, I’m working on showing you some more colorful spring content. I have been dreaming about some warm sunny weather since literally December so this new season is a dream come true. This spring, for me at least, is all about color. All the colors and light neutrals. I wanted to start off by showing you all how I like to style my outfits for early spring when it’s still a little chilly out but the sun is still shining!

Outfit #1:

To start things off, I’m sharing this cute and feminine pink outfit. I love this pink sweater because it’s light weight and I love the color! It’s such a pretty salmon pink. I kept it very simple with a pair of jeans and this pretty trench that you all know I’m obsessed with. This embellished mules added a little more spring flare!

Outfit # 2:

Sticking with my bright color theme for the spring, I also am really into colorblocking so I wanted to pair this gorgeous royal purple sweater with my favorite pink trench. Pink and purple is one of my favorite color combinations for the spring. Paired with white jeans, it’s a prefect transitional outfit for days when it’s bright and sunny but you still need some layers for warmth.

Outfit # 3:

Another combination I love for colorblocking is purple and green! It’s so pretty and if you do it right, you won’t even look like the hulk! With such bright colors like this, I think keeping them separate really helps so I wore the same purple sweater but paired it with green heels instead. With pastels, these colors are really pretty layered as a top and coat or with wide leg trousers.

Outfit #4:

Finally, I can’t tell you enough how much I love this bright green! It’s such a fun color for the spring because it basically matches the grass and I love that. It also pairs well with lots of other colors, but is also a great piece to wear on it’s own. This is another favorite of mine that I am going to wear for as long as possible.

OOTD: Cozy Sweater & Mom Jeans

Today I figured I’d do a little OOTD for you guys because I want to show you all some more of my daily looks instead of curated look books. I share my outfits on my Instagram story and in my highlights daily but I figured I should share them on my blog once in a while right!

Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Nordstrom / Belt: American Eagle

Today I went with a pretty basic outfit, but what’s important about this outfit is that it has been my uniform lately for work. Literally everyday. I don’t wear anything else. A cozy sweater (since it’s still very cold in New York) and a pair of jeans is all I wear all the time. Today, I decided to wear heels which is one of my favorite things in the whole world, especially these pretty pinky purple ones *heart eyes*. Realistically if I could justify wearing heels everyday I would. However, sometimes I switch things up and I wear boots or flats depending on how I’m feeling that morning.

Recently, I’m really lacking inspiration in my winter outfits because it’s not quite the end of winter but all the spring stuff is EVERYWHERE. I’m trying my best but frankly, I’m just ready for some warm weather. Lately my main style inspiration is Arielle Charnas (are you surprised????) because she ALWAYS wears heels and jeans and a sweater and it’s such an easy thing for me to incorporate into my life. However, I’ve been trying to add some brighter colors into my wardrobe as my way of forcing spring to come sooner. Everyone cross your fingers that spring comes sooner than later!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little OOTD and please comment if you’d like to see some more of these!

OOTD: Eastern Long Island

As an extension of our Valentine’s Day plans, my very wonderful boyfriend, Andrew took me out to eastern Long Island for a fun day of drinks, dinner and enjoying each other’s company. Luckily, it was beautiful weather for February and it really helped to make for a great day! I wanted to share our experience and also what I wore because this is a fashion blog you know. So, here we go!

We started our day at the Riverhead Ciderhouse. It’s exactly what it sounds like it is, a cider house or like a brewery for alcoholic cider. The building on it’s own is very cool and cozy. There’s lots of couches and first come first serve table seating to relax at and enjoy all kinds of cider, beer, wine and snacks. It was super crowded when we got there around 2 in the afternoon, so I would definitely recommend going early! We got 2 glasses of cider to start; I had the Strawberry Patch cider and my boyfriend got the Honey Crisp Bolt Apple Cider and we also shared a flight so we could try a few different flavors! My favorite ended up being a Blackberry Habanero cider. It was delicious! Of course, if we’re spending all day drinking, we need to refuel with some snacks so we also grabbed a giant pretzel and some chips and guacamole. I loved this place, it had such a good atmosphere and it’s probably really fun in the summer. I’m definitely looking forward to going back!

For dinner, we went to a waterfront restaurant called Cowfish in the Hampton Bays. It’s an American surf and turf restaurant with a great drink selection as well as amazing food! We had a reservation right at sunset and it was absolutely stunning. The sky was cotton candy colored and in combination with the drinks and food it was a great experience. I had the seared Ahi Tuna and Andrew had the Mahi which had Cajun seasoning. Both were delicious and we shared an appetizer of buffalo shrimp which was surprisingly good! The service was also good, our server was knowledgeable and friendly which is all you can really ask for, right! Me being the really good blogger than I am, did not snap any pics of the food there or the sunset but don’t you worry cause I got my outfit.

Coat: H&M / Sweater: Something Navy / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Sam Edelman

After dinner, we headed home to finish watching the show Lovesick on Netflix. We’re really into it right now but looking for a new show since we’re almost done with it! (Please send new Netflix suggestions, thanks.) It was such a great day and I would highly recommend both places if you’re ever looking to head out to the east end of Long Island!
