How to Style: Color for Spring

I’ve been telling you for weeks how I feel about all the fun bright colors for the spring. So I finally decided to share a few outfits ideas styling colorful pieces for you. I really love color blocking and mixing the colorful pieces so I tried to do that here with some of the outfits. I hope you enjoy!

Outfit # 1

I found these yellow jeans from American Eagle about a month ago and thought they were such a good piece for the spring. Keeping things really simple, I paired them with a white t-shirt but added more color with these Lavender shoes that I had shown you a few times before in my Spring Shoes post and my March Favorites. I accessorized with these earrings from Baublebar.

Outfit # 2

I saw this pretty pink romper at Urban Outfitters and just about fell over because it’s so cute. First off, I love that it’s a romper and not a dress because I hate rompers but I think it makes it really wearable because it’s very short. I also love pink and red together so I paired it with these mules I got from Urban Outfitters last year. They are not available anymore, but these are similar sandals. My rainbow earrings are from Baublebar (duh) and my headband is from Urban Outfitters and sold out but it comes in a few other colors too.

Outfit #3

One of my favorite outfits is all white with a pop of color so that’s exactly what I did here. I shared these wide leg jeans from American Eagle in my Early Spring Outfit Ideas and they are definitely a favorite of mine so far. I also paired these with a plain white t-shirt and this cropped army green jacket from Target last year. This one is no longer available but here’s a similar version. Finally, for shoes I went with these gorgeous purple suede heels from Charles David. These are also sold out, but here’s a similar pair!

I saw this orange dress at Urban Outfitters and thought it was such an easy piece to have in my closet and I really loved the loose shape of it. I really like orange and yellow together right now, so I paired this yellow headband with it from Urban Outfitters also. On my feet, I paired my trusty platform Superga sneakers.

Outfit # 5

For this last outfit, I found this gorgeous teal (turquoise?) sweater from Free People and fell in love and knew I had to style it! Mine is sold out but here’s a similar one from J. Crew. I paired it with this pretty floral printed top from Something Navy and my favorite Jamie Jeans from Topshop. For my shoes, I went with these yellow mules from Public Desire to tie it all together. Mine are from a few years ago but these are a similar pair from Topshop.

How to Style: Early Spring Outfits

Now that it’s officially spring, I’m working on showing you some more colorful spring content. I have been dreaming about some warm sunny weather since literally December so this new season is a dream come true. This spring, for me at least, is all about color. All the colors and light neutrals. I wanted to start off by showing you all how I like to style my outfits for early spring when it’s still a little chilly out but the sun is still shining!

Outfit #1:

To start things off, I’m sharing this cute and feminine pink outfit. I love this pink sweater because it’s light weight and I love the color! It’s such a pretty salmon pink. I kept it very simple with a pair of jeans and this pretty trench that you all know I’m obsessed with. This embellished mules added a little more spring flare!

Outfit # 2:

Sticking with my bright color theme for the spring, I also am really into colorblocking so I wanted to pair this gorgeous royal purple sweater with my favorite pink trench. Pink and purple is one of my favorite color combinations for the spring. Paired with white jeans, it’s a prefect transitional outfit for days when it’s bright and sunny but you still need some layers for warmth.

Outfit # 3:

Another combination I love for colorblocking is purple and green! It’s so pretty and if you do it right, you won’t even look like the hulk! With such bright colors like this, I think keeping them separate really helps so I wore the same purple sweater but paired it with green heels instead. With pastels, these colors are really pretty layered as a top and coat or with wide leg trousers.

Outfit #4:

Finally, I can’t tell you enough how much I love this bright green! It’s such a fun color for the spring because it basically matches the grass and I love that. It also pairs well with lots of other colors, but is also a great piece to wear on it’s own. This is another favorite of mine that I am going to wear for as long as possible.

How to Style: White Jeans

Hi Everyone! Since the weather has been just beautiful the last few days and it’s almost spring, I wanted to start doing some spring posts. My first one is going to be how I like to style white jeans. White jeans are a spring and summer (and fall and winter) staple but sometimes, I find I have trouble styling them! Should be so easy right? It’s like a plain white T-shirt for your legs, but I ALWAYS struggle. However, that doesn’t mean you have to!

Outfit # 1:

There’s nothing easier than an oversize button down and jeans so that’s exactly what this outfit is. I took a simple striped boyfriend button down shirt and paired it with my ripped Jamie Jeans from Topshop. It’s threw on this oversize sherpa coat also because it was a little chilly!

Outfit #2:

I’m very into these cool cropped wide leg jeans that are popular right now and I thought a white pair was perfect for the spring. I’m also very into these giant pearl hair clips so I’m combining them into one photo to create this look. I still love green for spring but during this transition period, I thought the darker green was much more subtle than a bright Kelly green.

Outfit #3:

I absolutely love an all white/cream outfit so I had to include one (or two) in this post. A simple white sweater and white jeans is the perfect transitional outfit. Paired with the white sherpa coat for when it’s chilly just adds another cool factor to the whole outfit.

Outfit #4:

In combination with all white outfits, I also LOVE adding pink into my outfits. I like to add it in any way that I can honestly because pink is such a pretty spring color and it’s very feminine which you all know I love, especially as a cute pink headband and these pretty embellished mules!

Outfit #5:

Finally, back to an all white outfit. I love this one because I’ve decided that wearing cardigans on their own as tops is one of my favorite things. This one is super soft and has pretty pearl button detailing. Again, I also love headbands so this was a good excuse to add some color into the outfit!

I hope you enjoyed this one and I also hope you liked my new back drop! I’m sure you will all miss my white fence 🙂

How to Elevate a Simple Outfit

As you’ve probably all realized, I am the queen of simple outfits. I really don’t need much more than a plain t-shirt and jeans but I do think it’s really important to always try an elevate your outfit just a little bit more. Today I wanted to share a few ways that I like to level up some of my simpler outfits.

1. Add Jewelry

The most obvious and easiest way to enhance your outfits would be by adding jewelry. Personally, I love simple, classic and dainty jewelry but also lots of sparkle. A pretty and simple pearl earring or a name plate necklace are usually my go to but I also love to do big gold hoops or sparkly stud earrings. In the summer, I also love to add colorful, gaudy earrings because it’s always nice to be a little bit extra.

2. Add Print or Color

Another staple I think when it comes to elevating a basic outfit is adding on a print or a color. You know I’m a big fan of leopard print so doing leopard pants, a jacket or shoes is super simple and very on trend. I also love a good pop of color or even color blocking. Heck, I even love mixing my prints and some color. Right now I absolutely am LOVING leopard print with light pink, it’s such a cute and simple way to spice up an outfit.

3. Paint Your Nails

I’m a firm believer that it’s the little things that make a huge difference so for me it’s very important to have my nails done. They tie your whole look together and make you look a thousand times more put together. It’s just a little extra step, but I know it always makes me feel great when I look down at my hands and see a freshly painted manicure, especially when I have my favorite rings on!

4. Do Your Hair/Makeup

I’m not saying that everyone needs to have a blow out and a full face of makeup every single day but if you really want to make yourself look a little bit more put together, doing your hair and makeup will definitely help. Not only does it make you look good, but you feel good too. And when you feel good you can really carry your outfit with confidence. You could literally wear a plastic bag but if you have your hair and makeup done, you feel like  a million bucks and that translates into how you look.

5. Wear Cool Shoes

Shoes are my absolute favorite part of every outfit. They can really take your outfit to the next level or change the whole entire vibe. So when I’m wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans, to me that’s a blank slate. I can throw on a pair of doc martens and now my look is grungey. Throw on some kitten heel mules and I look more feminine. Throw on a pair of pointed toe heels and I look smart casual. Shoes completely change your outfit, so when in doubt put on your favorite shoes!

6. Use a New Purse

Sometimes when I feel bored with my outfits, I like to just change out my purse for something new. Not saying I buy a new bag every time I have a simple outfit on, but just switch to something I haven’t used in a while. Right now, I’m using my LV Neverfull for my work bag and I usually don’t switch it out. But say if I’m going out to dinner or drinks with friends, I’ll switch it out for a smaller bag like my Gucci Marmont or maybe my LV pouch if I don’t want to carry a lot with me. It’s not a major change, but it can really make a difference!

7. Add Another Layer

This one is actually one of my favorites and most used tips for elevating a simple outfit. I’m a major advocate for layering, especially now that it’s getting very wintery. A third (or a fourth) layer is good for added warmth but it also adds dimension to your outfits. Some of my favorite layering pieces are blazers and a leather jacket. If I’m wearing a t-shirt or sweater, I’ll add on a blazer for something more formal or a leather jacket for a very cool look. Then on top I add on whatever coat I decided to wear that day and there’s my layered look. It’s still easy, but now I look like I put in just a little more effort.

8. Add Texture

Last, but certainly not least, is adding texture. Using different materials in your outfits is a great way to create some dimension and interest in your simple outfit. I love crocodile print, because it’s not just a print. It actually has texture to it. I also always love to add in leather or some kind of faux fur or shearling. Even sequins or glitter is a good way to add some texture (if the situation calls for it, of course)!
