Casual Outfits For When You Don’t Know What To Wear

I am the kind of person who constantly has no idea what to wear. It’s not often that I feel really inspired by my closet and it can be really frustrating for me to try and figure out something to wear ahead of time. Usually if I’m lacking inspiration, I look to my saved photos from Instagram and try to curate an outfit based on the things I saved. The issue however, is that 90% of the time, I don’t have anything similar to what the pretty Influencers are wearing in their photos. So today I wanted to share some outfit inspiration using items that you probably have in your closet already, inspired by my saved Instagram photos. I hate feeling stressed about my outfits, so I’m hoping this will help any of you who are feeling the same way!

Outfit #1

I saw this photo on Instagram and thought it was such a cute outfit that would be easy to put together because at this point, I feel like most people own these pieces or they are available at just about every retailer. I got this beige turtleneck a few years ago and I don’t even wear it very often, but it’s the kind of piece that you should have around because you never know when you’ll want to wear it. I paired it with these black jeans that are old so also naturally worn in which I love and these cute tan boots. It’s neutral and simple which makes it a great outfit to wear when you can’t really figure out what to wear.

Coat: Something Navy (similar) / Sweater: H&M / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #2

I love this cream sweater and I wear the heck out of it. I got my inspiration from Danielle Bernstein on Instagram, because as I’ve mentioned a bunch of times, I love her style. She wore a cable knit sweater in her photo, which I think looks better because of the texture it adds, but I think any cream color sweater will be sufficient. I love pairing black with tan so I threw on the same black jeans from the previous outfit and my tan suede Jeffrey Campbell Cromwell boots. I’ve been really into these boots lately which is so strange because it took me two whole years to even start wearing them. She has on a really cool jacket in her photo that I do not have, but I think a teddy coat would look great too!

Sweater: Something Navy (similar) / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #3

I also have told you that I’m a huge fan of Arielle Charnas because she has classic style but she definitely loves to play with texture, color, and crazy details. I saw this outfit posted on Something Navy’s Instagram and knew it was such a good outfit for when you don’t know what to wear. Most people do have at least one cardigan in their closet and probably a long cardigan at that. The rest of the outfit is a simple pair of jeans and t-shirt or tank top. I personally did not have a pair of black leather knee high boots until I recently purchased a pair from Sam Edelman but I did have a slightly shorter pair that I think would look just as cute from Something Navy. These boots are so popular right now though, so they shouldn’t be too hard to find!

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters (similar) / Top: Old Navy / Jeans: Abercrombie (similar) / Shoes: Something Navy (similar)

Outfit #4

One of my favorite things to style recently have been sweatshirts! Either plain or graphic, it doesn’t matter. I think they are a great piece to make an outfit comfy and casual, even if you happen to be wearing heels. I got my inspiration from Ashley Brooke on Instagram, whose style I have been a fan of kind of on and off over the last few years. But I saw her style a plain black sweater/sweatshirt with some distressed, washed black jeans with brown boots and I thought it was so cute. An all black outfit is such an easy go-to look, so of course I had to include one!

Outfit Of The Day: Styling Winter Whites

I’ve seen a ton of people styling winter whites recently, which I personally love, so I thought I would give it a try on my own. I think white is such a pretty color to wear in the winter, especially if you live or go somewhere nice and snowy. It hasn’t been snowy here where I live, but that doesn’t mean I can’t show off my winter whites outfit. Keep on reading to see what I put together!

A few weeks ago I saw someone wearing a really cute half zip sweater on Instagram and I thought, “That’s such a cool sweater!” So I recently decided to go hunting for one and couldn’t really find ones I liked or they were all sold out until I took a peek at Abercrombie and found exactly what I was looking for! It was a new arrival too so there was plenty in stock and it came in a few different colors. I got the cream color, but there’s also a taupey pink and one with a chevron pattern which is pretty. My sweater is linked here!

I also saw the jeans that they styled the sweater with on the model and really liked them so I went searching for those as well. They were on sale and I have been looking for some new white jeans. I was considering a $200 pair from Re/Done so thank goodness I found these for $44! All my old ones don’t fit very well or they have rips in the knee so I can’t really wear them right now in the winter. I also wanted a pair that was more of a straight leg fit. I like these because they have the straight leg but the hem is also cuffed up really long which is kind of a cool detail to add! The jeans are linked here!

Lastly, I was working on another blog post and had to link my Jeffrey Campbell Cromwell booties and I saw that they had them in a pretty white leather snakeprint. I have had buying white ankle boots on my mind for a while, but it wasn’t a priority so I had kind of put it off. Once I saw these, it was like a light switch went off and I knew these were the boots I was looking for! I recently decided that I really like these Jeffrey Campbell boots so they were really the perfect choice to go with this outfit. My boots are linked here and here’s a link to a similar coat on sale for less than $80.

In closing, the look is super casual. Great to go out for coffee or run errands if you want to look a little bit nicer or even a lunch date with your friends or partner! I don’t think anyone even follows the no white after Labor Day rule anymore anyway, but I’m here to tell you, that you shouldn’t! White is definitely one of the best colors to wear in the winter so just go for it!

Easy and Casual How to Style Graphic Tees

I have been wanting to do this post for a few months now, but I could never justify paying $40 for a graphic t-shirt. A few weeks ago, Urban Outfitters was having a sale and these tees were on sale so I decided it’s time to stop putting it off and just buy the shirts and post this blog post! Graphic t-shirts have been around since the dawn of time, but they have recently become really cute and trendy so I decided why not do a whole blog about them. I personally love wearing these shirts with jeans and heels to go out at night. I think it’s kind of sexy without being revealing. Keep on reading to see how I decided to style these cutie t-shirts! I’m also linking as many items as I can if they are available or if something is similar. Please note these are affiliate links so I may get paid a commission from the retailer for your purchase at no additional cost to you!

Outfit #1

This outfit is the most casual, and sort of out of my comfort zone honestly. I’ve shown graphic tees with blazers before, but usually I add heels to make them look more put together. This time I really dressed it down and went with these chunky sneakers that I’m only now starting to love (2 years later, but it’s fine). I know this look is not for everyone but you can switch out any of the elements to make it fit your style which is the beauty of outfit inspiration!

Blazer: Forever 21 (similar) / Top: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Fila

Outfit #2

This is the outfit I had in mind when I mentioned that I like to wear graphic t-shirts out at night. I think the best way to style them for night time is monochromatic with black or gray jeans (these happen to be a little bit of both which I love), some cute boot heels and lots of gold jewelry! The t-shirt makes it cool and casual, but wearing jewelry and heeled boots, says “I put effort into the way I look today” which is the perfect balance! Throwing on a leather moto jacket adds another cool factor while also keeping you a little warmer when it’s cold out.

Jacket: Nasty Gal / Top: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Topshop (similar) / Shoes: Something Navy (similar)

Outfit #3

Again, this outfit is a little bit more out of my comfort zone, but I like it a lot! It’s a good mix of grungey and girly and works for day or night! I’ve shown this white skirt 100 times already, but it’d insanely versatile so just get over it at this point. I tucked my t-shirt in, but it would also be super cute if you just tied it up in a little knot to cinch your waist. I also added some chunky suede boots to make it a little girlier and balance out the toughness of the moto jacket and the shirt.

Four Cute and Casual Winter Outfit Ideas

I wanted to share a few really casual outfits on here because usually, well, I don’t. I tend to share more dressed up looks or looks for special occasions or something along those lines and frankly, no one really looks like that day to day. So, I figured I’d do a post of some casual-but-still-put-together outfits. I definitely want to make more of an effort to share outfits that can be worn day to day because it’s just the most realistic. I hope you enjoy these! I’ll link as many items or similar items as I can!

Outfit #1

This first look is the most casual of all the looks and something I would probably wear out to run errands (if I didn’t want to wear sweatpants which is almost never). Instead of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, I opted for a sweatshirt and JEANS instead! I got this cozy sweatshirt while hanging around in Montauk over the summer and it’s a staple for me when I want to be comfy. To look more put together, I figured light wash jeans (similar) and a pair of chunky sneakers was the best option. As always, gold hoops are there to help dress things up too!

Sweater: Montauk town store / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Fila / Coat: Something Navy

Outfit #2

There’s nothing quite like an all black outfit. I’m partial to a washed black when it comes to my denim because if it’s too black, I feel like my top has to match exactly otherwise my outfit looks strange. I wear these Abercrombie jeans all the time and just put on a plain black sweater from Urban Outfitters (similar). My Jeffrey Campbell boots are ones I have a love-hate relationship with. I want to get rid of them every year, but I never do because I ALWAYS end up wanting to wear them at one point and it just resets the cycle for me. But they are such a chic western style piece so they’ll be in style for quite a while.

Jacket: Forever 21 / Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Outfit #3

Another favorite look of mine is wearing cardigans as tops, which is super in style these days anyway. Paired with any pair of jeans and it’s a super easy, casual look but you still look like you intended to get dressed that morning. I love this little cardigan from American Eagle (similar), and got it in both colors because it’s the perfect length and the V-neck is not too deep. These are some of my favorite Jamie Jeans from Topshop, again in a washed black/gray color because it goes so well with just about everything! This one is the most dressy because it technically has a heel, but they are boots and a comfortable height so they are not NOT casual. These are similar boots from Steve Madden.

Coat & Shoes: Something Navy / Sweater: American Eagle / Jeans: Topshop

Outfit #4

This is another favorite of mine because you know I love to wear a bright pink. Instead of wearing this cardigan as a top, I wore it as a regular cardigan to add dimension to my outfit by layering it with a lace trim cami. Paired with some medium wash mom jeans, it’s a perfect casual outfit! I dressed it up a little bit more with these funky mules, but you can wear little booties or flats with this too and it will get you an even more casual look.

Cardigan: Something Navy / Top & Jeans: Abercrombie / Shoes: Sam Edelman

Weekend In My Life: Rosé Mansion, NYC

Last weekend, I had a little outing with my friends to the Rosé Mansion in NYC which is a rosé wine themed exhibit that is considered one of the most instagrammable places in the city. You’re lying if you say if you haven’t seen it all over Instagram over the last year or so. I had put off on going here for a very long time but we finally took the plunge and decided to go and had a surprisingly good time.

This exhibit takes you through the history of rosé and you can do tasting of different wines from all kinds of different regions, from Italy to the Finger Lakes. There’s a rosé for everyone! It has 14 rooms, each with a different theme and always something fun to take photos with. This exhibit is famous for it’s bathtub filled with rose petals!

The exhibit costs $45 plus taxes and fees and that gets you entry into the exhibit, 8 wine tastings (about 1 ounce, which to me is skimpy for a wine tasting), a plastic wine glass to keep, and an enamel pin. If you’re like me, you really only went for the wine or the photos, the rest was pretty irrelevant. So I will be completely honest in saying that it’s too expensive to REALLY justify the experience. The wine was delicious, but if I’m spending $45 on it, I want at least 4 ounce pours for each tasting which is pretty standard at any vineyard you go to. On top of that, it is insanely crowded with literal hoards of women trying to get the perfect Instagram photo. Now I’m not saying I didn’t get my fair share of photos, but was it worth it to wait in line to sit in that bathtub of rose petals? Probably not.

Now I’m not intentionally being negative, I just wanted to give my honest opinion. I will say I had a surprisingly good time which is probably because of the people I went with and the wine I drank. I had really low expectations for this experience, so it wasn’t hard to exceed them. With that being said, I would not ever go again, but if you’re looking to try it out, I wouldn’t tell you NOT to go. It’s a personal preference, and this experience was not for me!

How To Style Color For Fall

Usually when it comes to fall, it’s not our first thought to think bright colors. Fall is always associated with dark, warm and moody colors but I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be. I already did a post about wearing pink for fall, and this time I’m expanding it to a few other colors also to help make the transition easier if pink is not your thing.

Outfit 1:

Of course, it’s pink. You know I love this pink sweater and I’ve shared it quite a few times. I find pink pretty easy to wear in the fall because it pairs so well with the tans, browns and whites that comes with fall so that’s what I did here. I paired my button up cardigan with these cute taped belted pants and some white flats for an easy look. You can throw on a camel color coat if it’s a little bit chillier too!

Outfit 2:

One of my favorite things to do is matching my top to my shoes. Personally, I love to match and have my outfit fit into the same color family. I already owned these purple shoes so when I saw this purple sweater I knew I had to have it. They are almost an exact color match too which is right up my alley! Plus you can always switch out the sweater or shoes for something more neural (or colorful) to get a different look but with the same pop of color.

Outfit 3:

This one is more for those who need to take it slow when introducing color into their wardrobe. I personally, treat dark green and navy as neutrals because they go with so many other colors. It’s bright enough that you know it’s a color, but it’s not so over the top that you would feel uncomfortable wearing it. I think green and navy are the perfect colors to introduce into your wardrobe when you’re looking to add in more color!

How I Style My Favorite Sweater 4 Ways

I’ve found my new favorite sweater for the season and I decided to style it 4 ways to show you how versatile these kinds of pieces can be! In the winter, a sweater is the equivalent of a plain white t-shirt. It can be paired so many different ways, dressed up or down. I chose to style this olive green sweater from Something Navy x Nordstrom and you can shop it, right here. Keep reading to see how I styled this sweater four different ways!

Outfit 1

This one is my favorite because it’s probably the most common way I’d style this. I paired it with my new favorite dad jeans from Topshop and a pair of cream heels. Super simple and really cute! I can wear this for a night out or I can switch out the heels for sneakers and go run errands.

Outfit 2

This one is more fun and dressy than the previous outfit. While the weather is not too chilly, I paired it with these black leather pants and some mid calf slouchy black boots. I love the look of leather and suede boots, and I thought it was a perfect way to style the sweater. A balanced mix of dressy and casual.

Outfit 3

Because the sweater is just a little over size, I thought it would look nice thrown over a button down top and paired with some leather leggings. It’s a casual outfit when paired with sneakers, but I decided to go with the same mid calf suede boots! Perfect for a dinner date when it starts getting chillier.

Outfit 4

This is my work wear way to style this sweater. I love these cream trousers and thought they would look so pretty with the green sweater. Since it’s fall, I was inspired with the leaves and paired the outfit with these orange heels, but you can really take this anywhere you want. You can do nude heels or black, ankle boots, flats or sneakers to make this outfit versatile for any occasion.
