September Favorites 2018

Today I’m back with my September 2018 Favorites! Just like always, I have a little bit of everything here so let’s get right into it!

1. JAS Rehab Deep Repair Hydrating Mist

This spray has easily become by all time favorite hair product. My cousin actually introduced me to it because use uses it for her kids’ hair which is a similar texture to mine. She actually gets it from her friend’s salon in Jersey City, but I was able to find it on Amazon also! The first time I used it, I was away from home and had to make due with what I could find and I quickly realized that I didn’t need any other products in my hair with this. It’s kept my hair soft and shiny and I can actually see the difference in the damage I had. 10/10 would recommend!

2. “Marlo” Tan Over the Knee Suede Boots

These babies were a go to for me last fall and winter and they are back again as one of my fall staples. They fit SUPER snug which means that are not falling down no matter what. I seriously cannot stand when my OTK boots fall down so these are pretty much the only ones I like to wear now. These also come in black and gray and you better believe I’m shooting to have all three this year!

This little guy is a beauty blogger favorite. Everyone knows this is the good stuff and I’m right there with them! It has a nice citrus scent and doesn’t feel too heavy or oily after you apply. I love a good vitamin C serum and thought I’d give this one a whirl and so far, I really love it.

4. Murad Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel

As I’ve mentioned before I do suffer from some acne scarring and breakouts but in the last month or so, I’ve seen a really significant difference in how dark my scars are. After just a few uses I could see a big difference which makes me think this is here to stay as part of my skin care routine.

5. Leopard Print

All of it. Tops, pants, sweaters, shoes. Everything. Give me all the leopard print. Don’t act like you don’t feel the same way.

6. Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

I started reading this book in the last few weeks of September but I really love it so far. Shonda Rhimes is very real and she writes very casually. She’s honest and I like that.

7. Louis Vuitton GM Neverfull

I got this bag to use for travel since I am traveling A LOT in September and October and it’s definitely one of the better decisions I’ve made. It really just holds everything in it and I love using it even for work. It’s super versatile.

Easy Fall Make Up Look

Today, I’m sharing this make up look that I have really been loving. It’s very easy and fall inspired. I created it using my Naked Heat Palette that I have just been obsessed with lately. It really has all the best colors for the season!

After doing my usual foundation routine, I went in with my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Dark Chocolate and used the BECCA Luminous Blush in Blushed Copper. The blush is nice and shimmery so I skipped highlighter today.

For my eyes, I started with Low Blow all over my entire lid and into the crease. Then I used En Fuego on my outer corner and finished off with Ember packed onto my lid. I love the pretty bronzey and warm red shades to this eye look!

I finished off the entire look with my favorite Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in the color Miss Conduct. And that’s it!

Going Out Makeup Look

I went out a few weeks ago and did this makeup look and I thought it was so pretty and easy to do so I thought I would share it with you all! I think it’s perfect also transitioning into fall also. I went out to a restaurant and club for a friend’s birthday so I wanted to look glam and this is what I came up with. Enjoy!!

I started out with a bare face of course!

Since I didn’t get very tan this summer, my Nars foundation has been working very well for me still. Once my base was all done I added my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer under my eyes to hide the bags and brighten up my eye area. After that I set with my Laura Mercier powder under my eyes and a powder foundation for my face.

After setting my face, I went it with my Too Faced Dark Chocolate Soleil Bronzer which has been my favorite bronzer for YEARS. It’s honestly the only one I’ll ever use. I used a limited edition blush palette from Smashbox for my blush also.

For my highlighter, you know I love the BECCA highlighters! They are just so pretty. Today I used the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Smoky Quartz on my cheekbones and my nose. After that I filled in my eye brows with my Anastasia Brow Definer in Ebony and set them with a clear mascara from Maybelline.

For my eye look I used the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and again, it’s the only one I ever use because the colors are nice and warm which I think works really well for my skin tone. Remember, I basically never wear make up so I’m not fond of having a million palettes! Using a flat shader brush, I packed “Low Blow” from the palette all over my lids and up into my crease. For the outer corner, I packed on the color “Cayenne” which is a pretty dark reddish brown.

After that I added a VERY thin sweep of black liquid liner on my top lid. I finished off the look by adding my two favorite mascaras: Too Faced Better Than Sex on the top and the L’Oreal Volumnious Carbon Black to top and bottom. On my lips I used the color “Stepping Out” from Smashbox Matte liquid lipsticks. Then we’re ALL DONE! It’s so pretty and easy and I hope you think so too!

July 2018 Favorites

Now that July is pretty much over, I thought I would share some things that I have really been loving this month. I didn’t do very much shopping this month, but I did have a few things that I have been wearing the heck out of. I also have a few beauty products that I’ve been really liking since it’s been really hot and humid here in New York this month.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

This perfume has been a favorite of mine for a very long time and I consider it my day time perfume. I haven’t been wearing perfume very often, but I rediscovered this one and have been wearing it also every day!

See by Chloe Glyn Wedges

I finally got these babies after waiting almost two months after pre-ordering them. I’ve been wanting these for a few months and so I finally caved and bought them for myself and they are just so beautiful. However, they are a little bit higher than I would normally wear but I still love them.

Double G Buckle Leather Gucci Belt

I finally got on board with these belts and I have been wearing this baby non-stop! It just looks so good with jeans or a dress on the weekend, but it’s not too flashy. It’s a great, classic piece and I would love to get a brown one!

Mom Jeans

I’m no stranger to mom jeans, but for some reason I have found every reason in the book to wear these jeans this summer. It hasn’t been super hot lately, so it’s perfect weather to wear mom jeans with a simple t-shirt for a casual look.

OLEHENRIKSEN Mattifying Moisturizer

I swear this moisturizer has saved my combination skin during the humid summer. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I usually get so oily, especially in the summers but so far that hasn’t been an issue! I owe it all to this awesome mattifying moisturizer. It seriously works wonders if you have oily/combination skin!

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil

I have been using this hair oil for a few months, but just recently I really started to appreciate how well it treats my hair. It’s so light and smells ever so slightly of honey, but it doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. Having curly hair, I struggle with extremely dry hair (probably due to the multiple times I thought it was a good idea to dye my hair blonde). This hair oil helps to keep my hair feeling soft, nourished, and frizz free.

Hum Nutrition Daily Cleanse

I’m an advocate for vitamins/supplements because I know that I just don’t have a balanced diet all the time. So to help fill those gaps, I’ve been taking some vitamins from Hum Nutrition. However, during this Rosé filled summer, this Daily Cleanse vitamin has saved me from horribly hungover Sunday mornings. It’s formulated to help cleanse your body from the inside out, clearing out toxins from your skin and liver.

GG Marmont Small Matelassé Shoulder Bag

THIS BAG. It’s my pride and joy right now. That’s it.

Bold Red Lip for Summer

I’ll be honest, I don’t often get creative with my makeup but sometimes it’s nice to spice things up and wear a bright, fun lip color. For summer, I really like to play with oranges and reds for my lips. I also think these colors are extremely flattering on most people, especially in the summer. Today I wanted to show you some of the products I like to use to create this easy bold red lip look.

During the summer, I like to stay away from wearing heavy foundation if I can. I won’t pretend that I have perfectly smooth and clear skin, but I am comfortable with my skin and letting it breathe! For this look I started off using a matte primer from Ulta Beauty to keep my skin looking smooth since I’m not wearing foundation. Then I went it with the Nars Creamy Concealer under my eyes in the shade Macadamia 1.5. I set under my eyes with my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and big fluffy brush. To finish off my face, I’m really loving this highlighter from Becca Cosmetics in Topaz on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. For my brows, I like to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Ebony because it’s a little bit thicker than the Brow Wiz so it fills them in faster and a little bit messier, which I personally like. I set my brows with a clear mascara from Maybelline and then I curl my eyelashes. For mascara, I like to use two. First I’ll add the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara for the first layer and after that I’ll go in with the L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black, which is an all time favorite of mine. This combination works really well for my lashes, but I do like to switch up my mascara every once in a while. Now my final step, is the bright red lip color. I love the Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in the color Bawse. These Smashbox lipsticks are my absolute favorites! They last all day long and there’s usually no need to reapply.

This is the final look and I really like it! It’s very simple and easy but it looks fun and bold also. It’s perfect for a summer date night.

Skincare Products I’m Loving

Now, I’ll admit that don’t have anything close to perfectly smooth and clear skin. I have acne scars on my cheeks and always get breakouts on my jawline, but my skin hasn’t felt this good since I was probably a baby. When I was young going through puberty and unknowingly creating bad habits through high school and college, I used to get breakouts all over and I never really knew what to do about it. I just sort of left it because I thought it would just get better on its own. I would wash my face every morning and maybe every night after I maybe took my makeup off from the day. But now that my life has gained consistency and I’m getting a little older and more mature, I have a greater concern for keeping my skin healthy and glowy. I hardly wear make up most days, partially because I can’t be bothered and partially because I just love the way my skin feels when it’s totally free from makeup. Not to say that I NEVER wear makeup, because I do also love a glamorous full face look too. I think now that I’m  focused on my skin care, I’ve been able to find a routine and products that I really love and work well for me right now. I’ve been using these products for about 3 months consistently together, but a few are holy grail products that I can’t live without. I hope you enjoy!

This one is pretty easy. I am currently using the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash and it’s my number one beauty product. I love it. That’s it.

Toner is one of the most important parts of skincare because it’s your last chance to really make sure you’re pores are clear of any dirt and oil before you moisturize. Right now I am using the Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner and it’s great so far. I am still on the hunt for one with acne treating ingredients, but haven’t settled on something just yet. There’s also good old witch hazel, but I like to experiment when it comes to my toners.

This Ole Henriksen moisturizer has saved my combination skin. It’s got aloe and oatmeal in it to calm my skin, but it also keeps my skin balanced and matte ALL DAY. For night time, I really like this Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins moisturizer. It’s oil-free too!

Serums & Treatments

Recently, I decided to try out some serums from The Ordinary and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Their no nonsense branding is great because they tell you exactly what’s in the product and there’s no confusion. Once you learn what the product names mean, it’s easy to figure out what you want to use. I love using their Vitamin C serum for brightening up my acne scars and their Granactive Retinoid oil for anti-aging (because it’s never too early to start!) I also am LOVING this GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream from Origins. It works wonders to brighten and depuff my tired eyes.

I, personally, think exfoliating is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Because no matter how well you think you washed your face, your cleanser will just not be able to get rid of all that dirt and grime that gets stuck deep inside your pores. I like to exfoliate 2-4 times per week (which seems like a lot but I’ll explain) depending on what I have going on that week and if I was wearing a lot of makeup or traveling. I also like to alternate the types of exfoliators I use, because they all give you different levels of exfoliation. That’s why I exfoliate so often. My personal favorite is using a chemical exfoliator such as a glycolic acid toner, like this one from the Ordinary, with a lactic acid serum right after. I use the acid exfoliators twice per week. I also really love using a vibrating brush exfoliator, sometimes before I do a chemical exfoliation if my skin is really unhappy. Right now I use this one from Ulta, but I honestly wish I invested in a really good one like the Clarisonic. This one was really inexpensive and I think the battery life is proof! Finally, there’s really nothing like a tried and true classic. The St. Ives Apricot Scrub is always a favorite when you want a good old cream exfoliating scrub. I like to use the brush orthe scrub 1-2 times per week depending on how my skin is feeling.

Can’t forget SPF!

SPF is so important no matter how young or old, black or white, girl or boy. Skin cancer does not discriminate! I’ve recently decided to start using a sunscreen that’s specifically for my face to avoid heavily clogged pores after sweating in the sun all summer long. Right now, I love this ultra sheer one from Drunk Elephant. I’m really interested in testing out some new products from this brand in the future!
